				C. Keith Whitelock grew up in Mt. Vernon MD. and has always been inspired by local landscapes of marshes, creeks, and the special working boats of the Chesapeake Bay waterman. The former public school Art teacher has been documenting the changing waterfronts of Eastern Shore communities since 1980.
His oils and watercolors are realistic and detailed yet are filled with obvious brushwork that he feels essential to keep alive the magic of painting. The subjects of most works are the rustic working boats; both power and sail, and weathered shanties and docks. He also paints works featuring Chesapeake lighthouses. They are rendered with a palette of ocher, browns and blue hues that naturally define the often placid scenes.
These paintings have won many awards over the years and appeared in both periodicals and books. He continues his teaching in the local TV series ìWatercolor Workshopî that has acquired a sizeable audience on the internet. He loves sailing and crews aboard a retired Skipjack during the racing season.
He currently lives in Salisbury, MD and is always searching for new subjects before they are threatened by modernization.
