Scott Suriano Among Distinguished Artists at 55th Annual Waterfowl Festival

I am an internationally published photographer specializing in nature and wildlife,  based in Baltimore, Maryland.  I have been fortunate over the past decade to have received numerous, formal accolades for my work from highly acclaimed publications and institutions to include Audubon Society, Bird Photographer of the Year, Nature’s Best, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Maryland Department of Natural Resources and many others.

From an early age, I began capturing wildlife on film which later grew into more of an obsessive creative outlet to combat the rigors and stresses of daily life.  I combined my love and passion for wildlife with this pursuit, which has flourished into a successful endeavor and enriched and me with unbelievable experiences that I would otherwise never have had.

When photographing wildlife, my goal is to attempt to do justice to whatever situation I am presented with.  Tell a story.  Capture the true essence of the subject.  Or simply capture the beauty of a scene.  My simplified approach to photography is to always be intentional and thoughtful, while exercising the highest level of ethical behavior so as to not cause harm or change the behavior of the animal.

I also love the challenges this genre of photography presents, as it takes a combination of skill, technical know-how, artistry and sometimes luck to get that special shot while in the field. What also draws me to wildlife photography is that it is always different and unpredictable, as you often only get that one chance to capture that one moment in time.   In my photos, I strive to capture something unique to evoke emotion in the viewer.

It is in those moments that I receive the greatest gifts wildlife photography offers.
