Kim Shaklee Among Distinguished Artists at 55th Annual Waterfowl Festival
“I have been a lifelong observer of wildlife, and a fulltime sculptor for more than 35 years. My work is as a cross between realism and representational art; with a soft, contemporary flair. I use sinuous curves and glassy, smooth surfaces to entice people to touch.
Often, I incorporate geometrical shapes and contrasts in texture to peak additionl interest. My passion also lies in pushing the envelope when designing bronzes that are perfectly balanced – some seemingly “defying nature” by standing without a base or minimal support.
My works are also known for their unusual patinas; many with variegated colors and beautiful patterning, created by using a torch and applying various oxides, minerals, and nitrates, nearly all of which I do myself.”
Kim works is included in the many special collections, such as the National Zoo in Washington D.C., Oklahoma City Zoo, the Little Rock Arkansas Zoo and in the Benson Park Sculpture Garden in Loveland, CO.
