Bernie Houston Among Distinguished Artists at 55th Annual Waterfowl Festival
Bernie Houston is a multi-award-winning driftwood sculptor that has traveled both national and internationally collecting driftwood. Most of his pieces found in the Atlantic region of the United States. Bernie grew up on the shore line of Savannah Georgia where he was always surrounded by driftwood. Living the marine life such as fishing, crabbing and shrimping as a kid, he would always whittle with driftwood on his fishing excursions. His found passion became a career when he entered one of his sculptures in a local art gallery and sold right out of the box. That was the paradigm shift that changed his life forever.
Bernie studied art at the prestigious Savannah College of Art & Design and achieved some freelance jobs in the field of illustration in which lead him into the graphic industry up to today.
Bernie along with a couple of his graphic artist friends successfully established a by monthly magazine publication “Atlanta Hair Magazine”. Bernie was the Photo/Image Editor for the magazine for several years.
Currently Bernie exhibit his artwork across the Easton seaboard in art festivals as well as galleries.
