Artist Bio:

Kathleen Ryan Gardiner studied art at SUNY college at Plattsburgh where she earned a degree in Education and Minors in Art and Social Sciences. She has taught Art and Social Studies in New York and Maryland. Having graduated from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. with a Liberal Arts Degree, Majoring in Art, I have also have taken workshops in watercolors, pastels, mixed media, along with Printmaking classes at Anne Arundel Community College. I have been a part time Professional Artist for the past 35 years. I am a member of WAF -Working Artists Forum in Easton, Kent Island Federation of Art, A.R.T.E.A.S.T., Rehoboth Art League and HCAA Hyattsville Community Artists Alliance. I recently had a solo show at Tidewater Inn in Easton in the Library and will have solo exhibits at My Little Studio Historic Stevensville in November and will be in an Exhibit with Delia Mychajluk and Bryan Greenlee at Annapolis Maritime Museum Feb./March 2014. For the past 15 years I have been an art teacher teaching Classes, Camps, After School Programs with Partnership for Youth, and Workshops for all ages in Drawing, Painting and various other mediums in Stevensville area Also I have taught at Chesapeake College’s Kid’s on Campus summer program for the past three years and at the Senior Center in Easton MD and now a drawing class at Percy Thomas Center on Kent Island.

Kathleen (Kathy) has studied with many professional artists over her career and continues to attend workshops led by some of today's most successful internationally known artists.

While Kathleen enjoys a variety of mediums, she especially enjoys watercolors. The subject of her work ranges from the rivers and creeks in Maryland to the boats and wildlife of the Chesapeake Bay Region to the the lakes and mountains of New York and Vermont. Kathy's love for animals comes through in her art, especially her love for dogs and horses.

Kathleen is a Signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, member of American Watercolor Society, Working Artists Forum, Annapolis Watercolor Club, and Maryland Federation of Art. Kathleen's work can be found in homes and businesses throughout the Mid Atlantic and New England regions.

I worked for Queen Anne County as a substitute teacher for fifteen years, including two long-term jobs for two different Middle School Art Teachers. I also held after school art programs in Stevensville Middle School, Grasonville and Matapeake Elementary schools through Partnership for Youth until funding ran out a couple years ago. I worked as part time Gallery Director for 8 years at Kent Island Federation of Art, coordinating communication between the community and lending support to the 200+ members, putting together the monthly exhibits and coordinating the classes, camps and workshops held there.

I currently work weekends at a private community in the office, running the Pro Shop there, and lending support to the member/ residents there. At home I work on Clock Dials and Reverse Paintings restoration, Pet, House and Car Portraits, and create murals for clients.
