Pat Lang, a native Marylander, is primarily a self-taught artist who works mostly in oils. She began drawing in elementary school, and started painting in her late teens. It wasn’t until her mid-30’s that she gained some valuable techniques from a well- known Baltimore artist while attending small studio painting classes for a short period of time. Adding to this experience, applying what she could learn through trial and error, visiting galleries to study famous works, and reading art instruction publications, she developed her own personal, realistic style. She has participated in numerous shows and exhibits in Maryland, including the Eastern Shore, for over 40 years. Pat Lang has also volunteered teaching oil painting at Chesapeake College through the Institute of Adult Learning program, and served as publicity chairperson for the Working Artists Forum and the St. Michaels Art League, and currently volunteers her publicity services to the Kent Island Federation of Arts. She maintains a studio in her home in Easton.
